Do-It-Yourself Inspiration

One of the things I did last year to sustain me during some challenging times was to create my own inspiration cards. I got some multi-colored index cards, some pens with various colors of ink, and a box. Then I started writing down quotes, poems, thoughts, verses, whatever caught my attention and provided inspiration, encouragement, and comfort. Simple.

Every morning, I draw a card from the box and set it in front where I can see it during the day. Even though I’m the one who copied the messages, I sometimes forget them and so I’m delighted to be reminded.

Even though life is more settled these days, I still enjoy starting my morning this way. And I stay on the lookout for more inspiration to add to the collection. That in itself is a practice of awareness of all the beauty, love, and connection always available to us.

Whether you are going through a difficult time or life is smooth sailing, this is a simple and fun way to get your day started with blessing and gratitude.

More smiling, less worrying. More compassion, less judgment. More blessed, less stressed. More love, less hate. ~Roy T. Bennett

  1. I love this! And I’m very thankful it helped you through your hard times.
Wouldn’t that make an incredible gift for someone or to leave behind when you’re gone? My wheels are spinning about making my own little box! Thank you♥️

    1. Wow, I didn’t think about the idea of a gift or a keepsake to leave behind. Those are great ideas! Now you’ve got my wheels spinning! Thanks, Kathy.

  2. What a great idea! We need to surround ourselves with positive thoughts. Thanks, Galen!

    1. Having visible reminders of positive thoughts was very helpful to me. I like your phrasing of surrounding ourselves with positive thoughts. Sticky notes everywhere! Thanks, Pamela.
