Yesterday was a day of fortuitous synchronicity. A friend and I had planned to meet at a lovely spot in Portland known as The Grotto to walk the labyrinth there. The Grotto is an outdoor Catholic shrine, with beautiful gardens and stone labyrinth nestled under large pines. I find this place peaceful to my soul and the labyrinth walk a profound meditation practice.
As I waited for her at the gift shop, I perused a large display of saint prayer cards. Although I’m not Catholic, I’m not shy about borrowing some saint energy when needed. I happened to pick up a card for Archangel Raphael. The prayer asked for, among other things, healing “for the ills of my body.” Since I am currently facing some health issues, Raphael seemed like a good saint for me to get acquainted with, so I bought the card and tucked it in my pocket.
My friend arrived and we enjoyed walking through the lush gardens before walking the labyrinth. As always, I was spiritually refreshed and grateful for the experience. Afterwards, we said our goodbyes and parted ways in the parking lot.
As I reached my car, a man walking by wished me a good day, and I returned the greeting. Then he abruptly stopped, turned, and looked me right in the eyes. “In fact,” he said, “have a wonderful life!” Well, that went right into my soul. I was deeply moved.
“You have no idea how much I needed to hear that today. Thank you,” I responded.
He continued looking directly at me and placed his hand over his heart. “It was a message from the Holy Spirit,” he said with conviction.
“Message received,” I answered. It was such a powerful encounter that I confess I watched as he walked away, wondering if he was an apparition and would disappear. But no, he got in his car and drove away, leaving me standing there wondering what had just happened.
Whatever it was, I am grateful for this amazing message of love from the Universe, delivered just when I needed it most. It reminds me of the Bible’s encouragement to give thanks in all circumstances, even if you are not grateful for the circumstances. No matter what is going on, I am alive in this moment, in this one amazing moment, feeling blessed.
Let love carry you where it will
Along the currents of the vast universe
Countless marvels to behold
Do not struggle
Fear will not keep you from your destiny
But you will miss the splendor
Of this precious life
I will carry these words with me – beautiful and comforting
No matter what is going on, I am alive in this moment, in this one amazing moment, feeling blessed.
Let love carry you where it will
Along the currents of the vast universe
Countless marvels to behold
Do not struggle
Fear will not keep you from your destiny
But you will miss the splendor
Of this precious life
Thank you Esther. I’m glad these words resonated with you.
Hi Galen! What a great reminder of the power of our words and interactions with others. As you say, his message to you was just something your soul (body & mind) needed to hear at that time. And I particularly like what you said “…to give thanks ‘in’ all circumstances, even if you are not grateful ‘for’ the circumstances.” Whatever you have going on in your life, may you continue to find words of encouragement and the space of peace within and without. oh, and continue to have a wonderful life! ~Kathy
Thank you for the good wishes, Kathy.
Beautiful words that touched my heart!
Thanks Becky. I’m so glad these words were meaningful to you.
I love that you’re willing to take saint energy from wherever it’s offered. Seeing good people caring for their people, their spaces, and those wandering in and out of such…. that’s saint energy worth absorbing! Grateful for your observations, Galen!
Thank you, Sherri. Yes, I am always happy to receive blessings from any source!
Thank you for sharing your experience, Galen. It encouraged me. May you continue to find help and healing.
Thank you for the good wishes, Pam. So glad you found encouragement.
It is a vast universe and a marvel that we are here to perceive it.
Indeed, Collin! Thanks for commenting.
